This artwork by John Blair achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2002. In the British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures auction, the work Edinburgh from the Braid Hills sold for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,920.82) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Blair; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot East Sands, North Berwick sold at auction in October 2000 with the realized price of GBP 1,880.00 (€ 3,213.46).
