Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An Italianate Wooded Landscape With A Black Smith Shoeing A Horse And Other Figures Near A Ruined City Gate by Jan van der Bent was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2015. The price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,560.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan van der Bent have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A capriccio of a Mediterranean harbour with elegant travellers, a moor and an oriental merchants, and other figues in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 18,800.00 (€ 30,399.35).
