Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and Early British Paintings, which included the work Travellers With A Horse And Cart Passing Through An Extensive Landscape by Jan van der Bent. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,142.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan van der Bent have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A capriccio of a Mediterranean harbour with elegant travellers, a moor and an oriental merchants, and other figues in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 18,800.00 (€ 30,399.35).
