Auction result well in line with expectations

The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,451.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johannes Leemans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Trompe L'Oeil Hunting Still Life With A Rifle, A Bird In A Cage, A Hunting Horn, A Bird-Whistle And Other Hunting Gear in May 2009 with an auction result of EUR 144,750.00.

Die Arbeit A trompe l'oeil still life with a bird cage, a hunting horn and other hunting equipment hanging on a wall von Johannes Leemans wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion Old Masters & British Paintings bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.451,06) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
