In April 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale, which included the work Dutch In The Harbor by Johan Adolph Rust. The »bidding war« ended at USD 31,000.00 (€ 19,912.64), 24% above the upper estimate. Other works by Johan Adolph Rust have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of NLG 64,361.00 (€ 30,891.16) in October 2000 for the work A shipyard.
