Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Christies in New York held the auction British and European Art, which included the work A river landscape beneath a stormy sky by Johan Barthold Jongkind. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,700.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Johan Barthold Jongkind have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sailing on a sunny day in April 2007 with an auction result of EUR 144,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A river landscape beneath a stormy sky von Johan Barthold Jongkind zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 12.600,00 (€ 14.700,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johan Barthold Jongkind auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sailing on a sunny day im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 144.000,00.
