It achieved a price of USD 75,600.00 (€ 71,307.30), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 51%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johan Barthold Jongkind - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sailing on a sunny day, which sold at auction in April 2007 for EUR 144,000.00.

Die Arbeit Bateaux devant le Pont-Neuf, Paris von Johan Barthold Jongkind wurde im Februar diesen Jahres in der Auktion European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 75.600,00 (€ 71.307,30) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 51%. Für andere Arbeiten von Johan Barthold Jongkind mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sailing on a sunny day beobachtet, die im April 2007 für EUR 144.000,00 versteigert wurde.
