Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary African Art Online, which included the work Seated Figure by Jimoh Akolo. The price achieved of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,516.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jimoh Akolo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bow Harp in October 2021 with an auction result of GBP 62,750.00 (€ 74,341.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seated Figure von Jimoh Akolo zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.516,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jimoh Akolo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bow Harp im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 62.750,00 (€ 74.341,80).
