Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nigerian Seated Figure by Jimoh Akolo was sold in the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in April 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,107.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jimoh Akolo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bow Harp in October 2021 with an auction result of GBP 62,750.00 (€ 74,341.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Nigerian Seated Figure von Jimoh Akolo wurde im April 2019 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.107,27) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jimoh Akolo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bow Harp im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 62.750,00 (€ 74.341,80).
