In October 2008 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings, which included the work 8 (Immortals) At Tanjong Rhu by Jimmy Ong. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 87,500.00 (€ 8,900.41), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jimmy Ong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nelli'S Dowry, which sold at auction in April 2008 for HKD 223,500.00 (€ 18,419.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit 8 (Immortals) At Tanjong Rhu von Jimmy Ong zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 87.500,00 (€ 8.900,41) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Jimmy Ong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nelli'S Dowry beobachtet, die im April 2008 für HKD 223.500,00 (€ 18.419,23) versteigert wurde.
