This collection began with the establishment of the L & F Art Gallery in Hong Kong in the early 1980s. This establishment sold the paintings of many contemporary artists of the day and provided the gallery owners with opportunities to meet many of them. At the end of the decade, the gallery was closed and the owner of these paintings moved to the United States. As in classical times, he enjoyed his collection of paintings and calligraphy in his leisure time away from his medical career.

In December 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Chinese Paintings Online: Modern Masters, which included the work Drinking Under Moonlight by Jia Youfu. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,088.31), 32% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jia Youfu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunglow Over The Land in April 2015 with an auction result of HKD 2,336,400.00 (€ 270,019.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 32 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Chinese Paintings Online: Modern Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Drinking Under Moonlight von Jia Youfu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.088,31) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jia Youfu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunglow Over The Land im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.336.400,00 (€ 270.019,35).
