Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tomb of Pope John XXII, Avignon by Jessie Marion King was sold in the The Scottish Sale at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh auction at Christies in London in October 2005. The price achieved of GBP 1,140.00 (€ 1,681.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jessie Marion King achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'No Goblin or Swart Faëry Hath Hurtfull Power' - illustration to John Milton's 'Comus' in December last year with an auction result of GBP 17,640.00 (€ 19,913.84).
