Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sentinel Trees by Jehangir Sabavala was sold in the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 218,750.00 (€ 249,417.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jehangir Sabavala have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Embarkation in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,590,000.00 (€ 1,373,412.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sentinel Trees von Jehangir Sabavala wurde im Oktober 2017 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 218.750,00 (€ 249.417,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jehangir Sabavala auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Embarkation im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.590.000,00 (€ 1.373.412,80).
