Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Secret Meeting Among The Ruins by Jan Michiel Ruyten was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 855.99). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Michiel Ruyten achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bustling city life around the Vleeshal, Antwerp in October 2003 with an auction result of EUR 22,705.00.

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Secret Meeting Among The Ruins von Jan Michiel Ruyten im Dezember 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.250,00 (€ 855,99) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Michiel Ruyten erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bustling city life around the Vleeshal, Antwerp im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 22.705,00.
