Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of the Third Siamese Ambassador from Reception of the Ambassadors from Siam at The Chateau de Fontainbleau by Jean-Léon Gérôme was sold in the Orientalist Art auction at Bonhams in October 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 14,000.00 (€ 16,586.22) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Léon Gérôme achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Riders Crossing The Desert in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,135,000.00 (€ 3,636,375.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study of the Third Siamese Ambassador from Reception of the Ambassadors from Siam at The Chateau de Fontainbleau von Jean-Léon Gérôme wurde im Oktober 2021 in der Auktion Orientalist Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 14.000,00 (€ 16.586,22) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Léon Gérôme erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Riders Crossing The Desert im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.135.000,00 (€ 3.636.375,17).
