Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction The Orientalist Sale, which included the work Prayer in the House of the Arnaut Chief by Jean-Léon Gérôme. The price achieved of GBP 126,000.00 (€ 149,275.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Léon Gérôme achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Riders Crossing The Desert in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,135,000.00 (€ 3,636,375.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Orientalist Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Prayer in the House of the Arnaut Chief von Jean-Léon Gérôme zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 126.000,00 (€ 149.275,97) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Léon Gérôme erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Riders Crossing The Desert im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.135.000,00 (€ 3.636.375,17).
