Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Veiled Beauty by Jean-Léon Gérôme was sold in the The Orientalist Sale auction at Sothebys in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 277,200.00 (€ 328,651.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Léon Gérôme achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Riders Crossing The Desert in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,135,000.00 (€ 3,636,375.17).
