Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2005 Christies in Paris held the auction DESSINS ANCIENS ET DU XIXE SIECLE, which included the work Un cheval, un âne et un buffle by Jean-Gabriel Prêtre. The price achieved of EUR 360.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Gabriel Prêtre achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Deux éléphants d'Afrique - Two African Elephants [1 Lion - Lion 2, only the first signed "JG Prêtre" in gold in the margin, the first with gold framing lines.|AID962896] in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 7,050.00 (€ 11,175.12).

Im Dezember 2005 führte Christies in Paris die Auktion DESSINS ANCIENS ET DU XIXE SIECLE durch, in der auch die Arbeit Un cheval, un âne et un buffle von Jean-Gabriel Prêtre zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 360,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Gabriel Prêtre erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Deux éléphants d'Afrique - Two African Elephants [1 Lion - Lion 2, only the first signed "JG Prêtre" in gold in the margin, the first with gold framing lines.|AID962896] im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.050,00 (€ 11.175,12).
