Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work A Pastoral Landscape With A Peasant And Her Animals by Jean-François Hue was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,054.55). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-François Hue achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Views of the Château de Mousseaux and its gardens in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 248,000.00 (€ 265,866.21).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit A Pastoral Landscape With A Peasant And Her Animals von Jean-François Hue im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.054,55) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-François Hue erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Views of the Château de Mousseaux and its gardens im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 248.000,00 (€ 265.866,21).
