Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Bords De L'Apance À Chatillon by Jean Ferdinand Monchablon for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,163.16). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Jean Ferdinand Monchablon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fresnes in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 34,375.00 (€ 25,063.80).
