Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I, which included the work Portrait of a woman, three-quarter length, in an elegant black velvet dress with lace trim, seated in an Empire chair on a red embroidered shawl on a terrace by Paulin-Jean-Baptiste Guérin. Here, the upper estimate of USD 40,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 45,360.00 (€ 40,456.65). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paulin-Jean-Baptiste Guérin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait, Head And Shoulders, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 134,500.00 (€ 153,689.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a woman, three-quarter length, in an elegant black velvet dress with lace trim, seated in an Empire chair on a red embroidered shawl on a terrace von Paulin-Jean-Baptiste Guérin zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 40.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 45.360,00 (€ 40.456,65) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Paulin-Jean-Baptiste Guérin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait, Head And Shoulders beobachtet, die im Juli 2013 für GBP 134.500,00 (€ 153.689,69) versteigert wurde.
