Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Comte Laurent-Jean-François Truguet, Admiral of France, three-quarter-length, wearing the sash and breast star of the Legion d'Honneur, standing before a pillar, a ship at anchor beyond and a baton by his side by Paulin-Jean-Baptiste Guérin was sold in the Important Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in October 2007. The price achieved of GBP 18,500.00 (€ 26,567.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Paulin-Jean-Baptiste Guérin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Self-Portrait, Head And Shoulders in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 153,689.69).
