Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Traditionally Identified As Monsieur Roch D'Albigny, Circa 1805 by Jean-Baptiste Isabey was sold in the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,216.03) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Isabey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait D'Eustachine-Jeanne D'Osmond in June 2015 with an auction result of EUR 47,500.00.
