Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900, which included the work An old man with a bag of money embracing a young woman by Jean-Baptiste Greuze. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 6,018.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Greuze achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Hermit, Or The Distributor Of Rosaries in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,082,500.00 (€ 827,662.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 durch, in der auch die Arbeit An old man with a bag of money embracing a young woman von Jean-Baptiste Greuze zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.040,00 (€ 6.018,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Baptiste Greuze erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Hermit, Or The Distributor Of Rosaries im Februar 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.082.500,00 (€ 827.662,67).
