In December 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work A Portrait Of Two Sisters And Their Brother Playing With A Dog by Jan Verkolje the Elder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 37,426.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A Portrait Of Two Sisters And Their Brother Playing With A Dog is the most expensive artwork by Jan Verkolje the Elder that we have observed at auctions so far.
