Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With Fruit And Flowers, Together With Oysters, Mussels, Smoked Herring, A Glass Of Wine And A Decanter by Jan van Os was sold in the Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in New York in June 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 76,680.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan van Os have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pink and yellow roses, peonies, an iris, tulips, primulas, hyacinths, a poppy, a coxcomb, fritillaries and other flowers in a sculpted urn with a bird's nest on a marble ledge in July 2002 with an auction result of GBP 369,650.00 (€ 589,606.09).

Die Arbeit Still Life With Fruit And Flowers, Together With Oysters, Mussels, Smoked Herring, A Glass Of Wine And A Decanter von Jan van Os wurde im Juni 2017 in der Auktion Master Paintings bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 76.680,40) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan van Os auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pink and yellow roses, peonies, an iris, tulips, primulas, hyacinths, a poppy, a coxcomb, fritillaries and other flowers in a sculpted urn with a bird's nest on a marble ledge im Juli 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 369.650,00 (€ 589.606,09).
