Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jan van Os could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Old Master Paintings & Sculpture auction, the work Fruit Still Life With A Mouse On A Ledge changed hands for USD 98,500.00 (€ 71,819.18) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan van Os have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pink and yellow roses, peonies, an iris, tulips, primulas, hyacinths, a poppy, a coxcomb, fritillaries and other flowers in a sculpted urn with a bird's nest on a marble ledge in July 2002 with an auction result of GBP 369,650.00 (€ 589,606.09).
