Auction result well in line with expectations
In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries, which included the work River landscape by Jan van Kessel. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,710.00 (€ 9,552.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van Kessel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses, Morning-Glory, A Carnation, An Iris And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, With A Red Admiral, Caterpillars, Dragonflies And Other Insects In A Sculpted Niche; And Roses, An Iris, A Carnation, A Tulip And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, Wit in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 695,
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries durch, in der auch die Arbeit River landscape von Jan van Kessel zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.710,00 (€ 9.552,27) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan van Kessel erzielen.
