In January 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings Part II, which included the work A view of Gorinchem from the southwest by Jan van Kessel. The »bidding war« ended at USD 69,300.00 (€ 57,107.54), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van Kessel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses, Morning-Glory, A Carnation, An Iris And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, With A Red Admiral, Caterpillars, Dragonflies And Other Insects In A Sculpted Niche; And Roses, An Iris, A Carnation, A Tulip And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, Wit in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 695,

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 69.300,00 (€ 57.107,54) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan van Kessel erzielen.
