Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Amsterdam, the Sint-Anthoniesluis looking north from the Brouwersgracht, with the gabled houses of Sint Antoniesbreestraat to the left by Jan van Kessel was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,409.15). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van Kessel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses, Morning-Glory, A Carnation, An Iris And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, With A Red Admiral, Caterpillars, Dragonflies And Other Insects In A Sculpted Niche; And Roses, An Iris, A Carnation, A Tulip And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, Wit in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 695,
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Roses, Morning-Glory, A Carnation, An Iris And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, With A Red Admiral, Caterpillars, Dragonflies And Other Insects In A Sculpted Niche; And Roses, An Iris, A Carnation, A Tulip And Other Flowers In A Porcelain Vase, Wit im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionse
