Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Still Life Of Roses, Tulips, Peonies And Other Flowers In A Sculpted Stone Vase, Together With A Bird'S Nest On A Stone Pedestal Before A Niche by Jan van Huysum. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,338,500.00 (€ 3,323,756.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Jan van Huysum have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2005 the work Green grapes on the vine with morning glory, pink and white hollyhocks, a red opium poppy, a walnut, hazelnuts, a split melon, a pomegranate, black grapes, redcurrants, raspberries, greengage plums and other fruit with a wicker basket of black cherri was auctioned for GBP 3,760,000.00 (€ 5,453,844.50).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000.000,00 – 6.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.338.500,00 (€ 3.323.756,99) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
