Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 52,920.00 (€ 43,609.39). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van Huysum achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Green grapes on the vine with morning glory, pink and white hollyhocks, a red opium poppy, a walnut, hazelnuts, a split melon, a pomegranate, black grapes, redcurrants, raspberries, greengage plums and other fruit with a wicker basket of black cherri in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 3,760,000.00 (€ 5,453,
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Still life of flowers in a terracotta vase before a stone niche von Jan van Huysum kam im Januar 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 52.920,00 (€ 43.609,39) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan van Huysum erzielen.
