Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jan van Bijlert could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Otto Naumann Sale auction, the work Portrait Of A Gentleman Wearing A Purple Doublet And A White Shirt changed hands for USD 17,500.00 (€ 14,081.11) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van Bijlert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a young boy, full-length, in an embroidered yellow dress and white lace collar and cuffs, a cane in his left hand, proferring a biscuit to a dog begging on a table, before a red curtain in January 2007 with an auction result of GBP 131,200.00 (€ 197,950.70).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a young boy, full-length, in an embroidered yellow dress and white lace collar and cuffs, a cane in his left hand, proferring a biscuit to a dog begging on a table, before a red curtain im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 131.200,00 (€ 197.950,70).
