In June 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings, which included the work An Allegory Of The Sense Of Smell by Jan van Bijlert. The »bidding war« ended at USD 68,750.00 (€ 60,248.88), 72% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan van Bijlert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a young boy, full-length, in an embroidered yellow dress and white lace collar and cuffs, a cane in his left hand, proferring a biscuit to a dog begging on a table, before a red curtain, which sold at auction in January 2007 for GBP 131,200.00 (€ 197,950.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen

Für andere Arbeiten von Jan van Bijlert mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a young boy, full-length, in an embroidered yellow dress and white lace collar and cuffs, a cane in his left hand, proferring a biscuit to a dog begging on a table, before a red curtain beobachtet, die im Januar 2007 für GBP 131.200,00 (€ 197.950,70) versteigert wurde.
