Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A youthful lutanist by Jan van Bijlert was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of NLG 120,000.00 – 160,000.00, the actual price achieved of NLG 129,250.00 (€ 62,263.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan van Bijlert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a young boy, full-length, in an embroidered yellow dress and white lace collar and cuffs, a cane in his left hand, proferring a biscuit to a dog begging on a table, before a red curtain, which sold at auction in January 2007 for GBP 131,200.00 (€ 197,950.70).

Die Arbeit A youthful lutanist von Jan van Bijlert kam im Mai 2001 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von NLG 120.000,00 – 160.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von NLG 129.250,00 (€ 62.263,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan van Bijlert mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a young boy, full-length, in an embroidered yellow dress and white lace collar and cuffs, a cane in his left hand, proferring a biscuit to a dog begging on a table, before a red curtain beobachtet, die im Januar 2007 für GBP 131.200,00 (€ 197.950,70) versteigert wurde.
