Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Three-Quarter Length Portrait Of The Artist Heyman Dullaert, Seated, Smoking And Holding A Glass by Jan Stolker was sold in the Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2019. The price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,055.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Stolker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eight portraits, all small bust-length, of Hendrick Dubbels (1620-1676) after Ludolf Bakhuyzen, Mattheus G*** (active c.1500), Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam (c. 1466-1536), Joachim Beuckelaer (c.1530-1573), Wendel Dieterlyn (?), Gillis Mostert (c.1, which sold at auction in June 2002 for USD 11,352.50 (€ 11,518.36).
