This artwork by Jan Portielje achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2019. In the European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work An Eastern European Beauty sold for USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,064.10) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jan Portielje; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Moment by the Fire sold at auction in May 2001 with the realized price of USD 52,875.00 (€ 62,536.96).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan Portielje erzielte im Oktober 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture wurde die Arbeit An Eastern European Beauty für USD 52.500,00 (€ 47.064,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jan Portielje; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A Moment by the Fire im Mai 2001 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 52.875,00 (€ 62.536,96).
