Despite a disappointment, a good price for Jan Miel
In May 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Ceres, Bacchus And Venus ('Sine Cerere Et Baccho Friget Venus') by Jan Miel for USD 394,000.00 (€ 353,839.25). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 800,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Ceres, Bacchus And Venus ('Sine Cerere Et Baccho Friget Venus') is the most expensive artwork by Jan Miel that we have observed at auction so far.
