Despite a disappointment, a good price for Jan Massys
When the work Susanna And The Elders by Jan Massys was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500,000.00 – 3,500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 1,053,229.61). Despite this disappointing result, Susanna And The Elders is the most expensive artwork by Jan Massys that we have observed at auction so far.
