Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of a lady, bust-length, in a black dress with a white collar and a necklace by Jan Jansz. de Stomme for USD 2,350.00 (€ 2,779.42). This price was achieved in the auction OLD MASTER PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND FRAMES at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Jansz. de Stomme achieve.
