In May 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Art, which included the work A sunlit church interior by Jan Jacob Schenkel. The auction ended at the price of EUR 6,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Jacob Schenkel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Figures in the Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam, which sold at auction in October 2004 for EUR 19,120.00.
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A sunlit church interior von Jan Jacob Schenkel zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 6.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Jacob Schenkel mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Figures in the Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam beobachtet, die im Oktober 2004 für EUR 19.120,00 versteigert wurde.
