Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2002 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master Pictures, which included the work A Rhenish river landscape with a city below and a monastery on a hill by Jan Griffier the Elder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,510.00 (€ 34,309.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Griffier the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 252,000.00 (€ 295,522.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Old Master Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Rhenish river landscape with a city below and a monastery on a hill von Jan Griffier the Elder zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 21.510,00 (€ 34.309,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Griffier the Elder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 252.000,00 (€ 295.522,25).
