Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Belgian Before The Ball by Jan Portielje was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,095.62). Admittedly, works by Jan Portielje have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Moment by the Fire in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 52,875.00 (€ 62,536.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Belgian Before The Ball von Jan Portielje im April 2010 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.095,62) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Portielje auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Moment by the Fire im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.875,00 (€ 62.536,96).
