Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters and 19th Century Art, which included the work An Italianate landscape with shepherds and their stock resting near a fountain by Jan Frans Soolmaker. The price achieved of EUR 4,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Frans Soolmaker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Herders resting in an italianate landscape, which sold at auction in April 2007 for USD 13,200.00 (€ 9,663.25).
