Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2018 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work A view of the Grote Markt, Haarlem, with the Town Hall in the background by Jan de Beijer. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,109.91). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan de Beijer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Amsterdam, The Nieuwe Kerk And The Back Of The Town Hall (Royal Palace) Seen From The Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, which sold at auction in July 2018 for GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,636.60).
