Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work A Still Life With Flowers In A Glass Roemer, On A Ledge With Fallen Petals by Jan Baptist van Fornenburgh for GBP 58,850.00 (€ 74,959.08). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Jan Baptist van Fornenburgh have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2009 by the work A Still Life Of Tulips, Lilies, Moss Roses, An Iris And Other Flowers In A Glass Vase In A Marble Niche, With Butterflies And A Lizard at GBP 103,250.00 (€ 117,157.80).
