Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jan Baptist Lambrechts could be acquired at Sothebys in Olympia in April 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work A Tavern Interior With A Gentleman Holding A Pipe And A Maid Holding A Gourd, A Serving Girl Beyond changed hands for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,108.35) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Baptist Lambrechts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A family hunting group outside a Neoclassical mansion in October 2004 with an auction result of GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,039.54).
