Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Figures making merry in an interior by Jan Baptist Lambrechts was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Baptist Lambrechts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A family hunting group outside a Neoclassical mansion in October 2004 with an auction result of GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,039.54).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Figures making merry in an interior von Jan Baptist Lambrechts im November 2012 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 2.500,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Baptist Lambrechts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A family hunting group outside a Neoclassical mansion im Oktober 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.365,00 (€ 12.039,54).
