Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art, which included the work A Cat Judged By Monkeys by Jan Baptist Lambrechts. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,769.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Baptist Lambrechts - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A family hunting group outside a Neoclassical mansion, which sold at auction in October 2004 for GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,039.54).

Im Januar 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Cat Judged By Monkeys von Jan Baptist Lambrechts zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.769,94) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Baptist Lambrechts mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A family hunting group outside a Neoclassical mansion beobachtet, die im Oktober 2004 für GBP 8.365,00 (€ 12.039,54) versteigert wurde.
