Upper estimate price exceeded by 100 %.
This artwork by Jan Asselijn achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2017. In the Old Masters auction, the work The Waterfalls At Tivoli sold for GBP 40,000.00 (€ 45,941.62) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Asselijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Breach Of The Sint Anthonisdijk On The Night Of 5–6 March 1651 in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 602,500.00 (€ 775,617.30).
